I’m a fan of Ben Aaronovitch’s Rivers of London book series and it was fantastic to see Chaosium publish a tabletop roleplaying game based on that world. I couldn’t wait to try it out and I had a great time with my players running this original case file I created called “Hawkshaw.” Here’s the synopsis:
Love it or hate it, you can’t deny the success of “Hawkshaw & Iggy,” a modern, gritty detective crime drama that makes up in style for what it lacks in verisimilitude. But when production is halted due to a disturbing discovery at a shooting location on the streets of London, it’s time for the Special Assessment Unit to get to work. Investigators, you’re the special guest stars, but can you solve this case within a case?
I think there’s no licensing arrangement that allows for publishing this adventure as part of a community marketplace such as the Miskatonic Repository at DriveThruRPG, but that’s okay! This adventure was great fun and I’m giving it away for free! It’s worth something, but for those game moderators who want to run it, it will cost you nothing but your time. I wish you and your players a thrilling adventure.
You can download this free case file now.
It’s 16 pages of content, including introduction, story notes, characters, locations, and handouts. It is a lightweight effort on my part. For those of you who are experienced game masters, it should be plenty to get you going. Of course, it’s your game, so deviation or elaboration are expected.
Here’s a thumbnail view.
I have two requests.
- If you play the game and you enjoy it, please drop me a line and let me know. My email address is in the README and the PDF.
- Since we can’t yet publish Rivers of London: The Roleplaying Game adventures in a community marketplace, please consider visiting my author page on DriveThruRPG and looking at and maybe purchasing my Call of Cthulhu adventures or maps.
Happy Gaming!
